Executive Director
Ja Nan Lahtaw began to work as an assistant director (program) at Nyein Foundation on June 1st, 2000. Since then she became deeply involved in Myanmar peace process along with Dr. Saboi Jum, the Founding Director of Nyein Foundation.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in Law from Yangon University in 1986, a Bachelor of Science in Bible; BMUS and a Master of Science in Christian Counseling from Philadelphia Biblical College in 1993 and 1995, and a Master of Arts in Conflict Transformation Program at Eastern Mennonite University in 2003.
She took the role of a co-facilitator in Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) negotiation process between 2013 and 2015 and technical advisor to assist the ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) in signing NCA.
As of March 1, 2015, she worked as an assistant director (program and international relations) for Nyein Foundation until she was appointed as Director (the organization introduced a new job title “Executive Director” after the structural reforms). Starting from 2017, in her capacity as the Executive Director, she has been managing the organization and serving as a peace technical advisor in Myanmar peace process. Since 2015, she has been working as a co-facilitator in Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee (UPDJC), technical advisor in EAO-UPDJC, member of Civil Society Forum for Peace (CSFoP), and founding member of Alliance for Gender Inclusion in Peace Process (AGIPP) Network.
Through her journey in peace process, she was presented with N-Peace Award by UNDP in 2015, Schuman Award by European Union in 2017, and Recognition Award by Kachin Consultative Assembly in 2018.
Director (Policy & Strategy)
Z Nang Raw, has been working, in her capacity as the Director (Policy and Strategy) for Nyein Foundation. She used to be a program manager who worked along with Dr. Saboi Jum, the Founding Director of Nyein.
She received a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from Yezin Agricultural University in 1987, a Master of Public Administration in 2006, a Master of Arts in International Development Policy from Duke University in the US, a Graduate Diploma in International Conflict Management from the University of North Carolina in the US.
She led the peace building initiatives at Nyein Foundation until 2014 when she was promoted to the Assistant Director (Policy and Strategy). As the organization introduced the new job titles and structure, she became the Director (Policy and Strategy) of Nyein Foundation with her responsibility to develop internal policies and strategies.
As of 2011, she has also been serving as a member of the Advisory Board of Mitta Foundation. In addition to the aforementioned roles, she is also a member of the Working Committee of Civil Society Forum for Peace (CSFoP) and a Steering Committee member of Alliance for Gender Inclusion in Peace Process. Furthermore she serves as an advisor for Kachin Baptist Convention.
Director (Program Support)
Su Su Wai started working as a development program coordinator for Nyein Foundation in September, 2017. She received a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from Yezin Agricultural University, Master of Science in Regional & Rural Development Planning from Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, Master of Arts in Applied Conflict Transformation Studies (ACTS) from the Center for Peace & Conflict Studies in Cambodia.
She is a former program manager of the Development Department in the organization. In 2014, she was appointed as the Assistant Director (Operations). Following the structural reforms within the organization, she worked as the Director (Operations) in 2017 and supervised Nyein’s programs and projects. In 2018 when the organization introduced new job titles, she became the Director (Program Support).
As of today, she is leading Nyein’s Program Support Department while taking additional responsibility as a member of Kalyana Mitta Development Foundation.
Office Manager (Head Office)
Zau Ma Lahtaw began to work at Nyein Foundation as a director personal assistant in June 2004. In February 2015, he took the position of HR & office manager with his additional role as a cashier & treasury.
In January 2014, he became an office manager and took responsibility for overall office management of Nyein’s Head Office and state offices. In 2017 when the organization introduced new job titles, he led the offices management and administration unit. He is currently working as the office manager of Nyein Foundation’s Head Office as well as a Senior Management Committee member.
He is a graduate of business administration from Philadelphia Biblical University.
Office Manager (Main Office)
Starting from the position of a civic education trainer, Since 2000 when Nyein Foundation was founded, L Nang Bawk has been with the organization. She used to work for the Myanmar peace process together with Dr. Saboi Jum, the Founding Director of Nyein Foundation.
In 1982, she received a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Mandalay. She also received a number of trainings including civic education in Australia from June to July 2000, peace leadership trainings in Thailand and Malaysia from March to May 2005, and peace making training in Cambodia in March 2007.
Before working for Nyein Foundation, she used to be a middle school teacher at the Government Education Department between 1984 and 1992. In 1998 she became a civic education program coordinator at Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC) and continued to work there until 2000.
Since September 2000, she has been overseeing all administrative work of Nyein’s Main Office. In addition to her career as the Main Office Manager, she has been a member of Kachin State Government Association Registration Body since 2004 and a member of the Advisory Team of the Northern Greenlight (TNGL- Kachin Conservation Working Group) which has been working on environmental conservation since 2018.

အရပ်ဘက်လူ့အဖွဲ့အစည်းများ၏ ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးလုပ်ငန်းစဉ်တွင် ပါဝင်နိုင်မည့် အခန်းကဏ္ဍများ ပိုမိုကျယ်ပြန့် လာစေရန်နှင့် အဓိပွါယ်ပြည့်ဝသော ပါဝင်မှုများဖြစ်ပေါ်လာစေရန် ၂၀၁၂ ခုနှစ်မှ တစ်နိုင်ငံလုံးအဆင့်အဖြစ် စတင်လုပ်ဆောင်နေသော အရပ်ဘက်အဖွဲ့အစည်းများ၏ ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးဖိုရမ် (CSFoP) တွင် လုပ်ငန်းကော်မတီ (အဖွဲ့အစည်းကိုယ်စား) အဖြစ် လက်ရှိအချိန်အထိ လုပ်ဆောင်နေသူ ဖြစ်သည်။
အမျိုးသားအဆင့် နိုင်ငံရေးဆွေးနွေးမှုလုပ်ငန်းစဉ်တစ်ခု၏ အကြောင်းအရာအလိုက် နိုင်ငံရေးဆွေးနွေးပွဲကို ဦးဆောင်နေသည့် ပြည်ထောင်စုအဆင့် အရပ်ဘက်အဖွဲ့အစည်းများ ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးဖိုရမ်ကော်မတီ (UCCPF) တွင် CSFoP ၏ ကိုယ်စား အဖွဲ့အဝင်တစ်ဦးအနေဖြင့် ပါဝင်ဆောင်ရွက်လျက်ရှိသည်။
၂၀၁၆ ခုနှစ်မှ စတင်ဖွဲ့စည်းခဲ့သော တစ်နိုင်ငံလုံးအဆင့် အရပ်ဘက်လူ့အဖွဲ့အစည်းများ၏ အပစ်ရပ်စာချုပ်များအပေါ် စောင့်ကြည့်လေ့လာသည့် မဟာမိတ်အဖွဲ့ (ယခင် – Alliance for Civilian Ceasefire Monitoring- ACCM), (လက်ရှိ Alliance for Peace Promotion in Myanmar – APPM)တွင် ဦးဆောင်ပံ့ပိုးကူညီသူ အနေဖြင့် လုပ်ဆောင်လျက်ရှိသည်။
ထို့အပြင် ၂၀၁၁ ခုနှစ်မှစတင်သော ကချင်ဒေသတစ်ကျော့ပြန် ပြည်တွင်းစစ်များဖြစ်ပေါ်လာသည့် တစ်ပြိုင်နက် ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာသည့် စစ်ဘေးဒုက္ခသည်များအရေးအတွက် ပြည်တွင်းပြည်ပအဖွဲ့အစည်းများနှင့် ချိတ်ဆက်ကာ အကူအညီရရှိရေး၊ အရပ်သား အကာအကွယ်ပေးရေးတို့နှင့်ပတ်သက်၍ စည်းရုံးလှုပ်ဆော်သည့် လုပ်ငန်းစဉ်တွင် ကချင်ငြိမ်းချမ်းရေးကွန်ယက်၏ ညှိနှိုင်းရေးမှူးအဖြစ် ပါဝင်ဆောင်ရွက်လျက်ရှိသည်။
Program Manager
Aung Tsen started working for Nyein Foundation as a project officer of Reforestation and Community Forest Project in Kachin State in 2006. In his capacity as a project officer, he mobilized rural communities to initiate community forestry in Kachin State. In February 2019, he was promoted to Project Manager.
In April 2014, he became the Program Manager of Development for Peace Program and oversaw the implementation of Reforestation and Community Forest Project, Education in Emergency Project, Humanitarian Assistance for Peace Project and Natural Resources Governance Action Research Project.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Yangon Distance Education in 2004 and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Study (Business Major) from Myanmar Institute of Theology in 2005.
Since August 2017, he has been managing Kachin Education Consortium Project, Humanitarian Assistance for Peace Project and Supporting Peace Process and Empowering State Hluttaws through Technical Assistance and Peacebuilding Research Project as the Program Manager of Research and Policy Advocacy Program.
Program Manager
Starting from December 2006, Lumra began to work for Nyein Foundation, as a first batch fellow of MAS_Zinlum Fellowship Program until December 2007. She was also involved in the Advance Community Development Program.
She received a Bachelor of Science (Q) in Chemistry from Yadanarpon University in 2001, a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Mandalay in 2006, and a Master of Research in Biochemistry in 2008.
She worked in various capacities at Nyein Foundation- as a project officer from January 2008 to April 2012, and a project manager from May 2012 to August 2014.
She also worked as a project coordinator of Space for Informal Dialogue Project of Nyein Foundation from September 2014 to August 2015 when she was promoted to the project manager.
She was a member of the Board of Foundation for Change between 2014 and 2017. She is currently taking responsibility as the Program Manager of the Nurturing Youth Peacebuilders Program as well as a member of the Mitta Sat Waing Steering Committee.
Capacity Development Unit Manager
Nang Shan, Lahpai, received a Master of Arts in Applied Conflict Transformation Studies at Pannasastra University of Cambodia, in Phnom Penh and Bachelor of Arts in Myanmar at the University of Distance Education, Mandalay and L.Th at Kachin Theological College, Nawng Nang, Kachin State. Currently she is the Manager of Capacity Development Unit and one of the Senior Management Committee Member (SMC) in Shalom as well as a senior interfaith peacebuilding trainer at Nyein (Shalom) Foundation (Myanmar) and a Secretariat Committee member (SC) of Alliance for Gender Inclusion in the Peace Process (AGIPP) in Myanmar.
She studied Peace Communication at Institut Titian Pardamai (ITP) called Peacebuilding Institute in Indonesia for (10) months in 2009, which was an exchange programme for those who have dedicatedly been working in Peace. She received a Master Degree Applied Conflict Transformation Studies from the Pannasastra University of Cambodia in 2013. Moreover, she studied UNSCR 1325: Women, Peace and Security in Stokeholm, Sweden and Phnom Penh, Cambodia organized by Sida and Indevelop.
As a SC member in AGIPP, she has been strengthening women leaders to participate in the peace process related UNSCR 1325: Women Peace and Security as well as strengthening gender perspective in programs and projects’ strategies in Shalom Foundation. As a senior peacebuilding trainer, she has conducted over a hundred of Peace Building trainings to religious based organizations, community based organizations and NGOs in Myanmar and served as a regular part time trainer for National Young Women Christian Association (NYWCA), Charity-Oriented Myanmar (COM), Sandhi Management School and Local
Consultancy Firm, Yangon, Myanmar.
Peace Education Advisor
Zau Lum is currently working as peace education advisor of Nyein (Shalom) Foundation and also a senior trainer specializing on peace education. Nearly two decades, he has worked in a wide variety of targeted people with diverse ethnic groups and various levels of targeted societies.
He is well experienced in delivering peace education related trainings and trained training of trainers. He worked in various capacities with Nyein Foundation as a training coordinator, project manager and program manager since the organization was founded in 2000.
He is a coordination committee member of Education for Peace Working Group in Myanmar and helps curriculum development on Peace building, interfaith peacebuilding, conflict transformation and social cohesion.
He finished his BA in Geography at University of Distance Education in Myitkyina and he earned his Master of Applied Conflict Transformation Studies at Pannasastra University of Cambodia.
Finance Manager
Mar Mar Sein commenced her commitment with Nyein Foundation in October 2016. She received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1992. Her other academic achievements involve Diploma in Accounting from Myanmar Accountancy Council, Diploma in Management Accounting from Yangon University of Economics. She is also studying for Certified Public Accounting at Myanmar Accountancy while taking level 2 ACCA-UK course.
Before Nyein Foundation, she used to work at an audit at Myanmar Audit General Office between 1997 and 2004, a deputy director at the Finance Department of Myanmar Red Cross Society between 2005 and 2015, a finance manager at Pact Myanmar (INGO).
