Interfaith Youth Forum

Interfaith Youth Cooperative Actions for Peace (IYCAP) Project of Nyein Foundation held the sixth Interfaith Youth Forum at 21 Paradise Hotel, Satse Beach, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State, from October 3 to 4 2014.

Attended the Forum were IYCAP alumni from Mon and Kayin States, and Yangon and Pago Regions, and interfaith dialogue groups.

The Forum began with welcoming speech by Daw Su Su Wai, Director (Program Support) of Nyein Foundation, followed by the words of congratulations of Dr. Aung Naing Oo, the Deputy Speaker of Mon State Hluttaw. Afterwards, U Soe Win, member of the Interfaith Dialogue Group (Myanmar), read out the message signed by the Chairperson of Interfaith Dialogue Group (Myanmar) and Dr. Htain Win, Chairperson of Interfaith Dialogue Group (Mon State) delivered a welcoming speech

The first day of the Forum centered on the panel discussion under the topic of “Religion and Peace” among the panelists Venerable Mayda Nanda (Myaungmya Sayadaw), Reverand Saw Shwe Lin, and U Ohn Thaung (Deputy Chairperson of Interfaith Dialogue Group (Mon)), moderated by Daw Lam Ra, program manager of Nyein Foundation, followed by the presentation on the slogan “Let’s value Diversity.

Let’s have a big heart” given by Dr. Myint Thein, and another panel discussion under the topic of “Religion and Peace” by IYCUP alumni members Saw Dan Yay La, Hein Yarzar, San Nilar Oo, and Aung Thi Ha across the moderation of Chan Myar Kyi Phyu.  The first day concluded with the group discussions facilitated by U Min Aung Htoo, Mon state coordinator of Nyein Foundation.

The second day of the Forum began with fellowship and gathering by picking up litter on the beach followed by the group discussion on the progress of interfaith activities as well as the similar activities of other organizations. The Forum concluded with Daw Lum Ra’s presentation on “Reviewing Interfaith and the Level of Harmony among Different Groups of Believers”.
